Windows 10 v1511 update failure - Microsoft Community

conscious support earliest version of windows 10 (1507) due withdrawn next month, have spent of past week trying unsuccessfully update version of windows 10 (1511) latest version (creators version 1703) before 1511 becomes next in line chop.

i started off going down manual update route. failed on reaching 75% of “working on updates” blue screen of death stating “your pc ran problem , needs restart. unable continue installation. restoring previous version of windows”. final stopcode message stated “page fault in non-paged area”. did bit of internet searching, recommended number of steps avoid issue, duly implemented:

  1. i ran windows update troubleshooter
  2. i physically removed, replaced, ram cards on motherboard
  3. i ran memory diagnostic check, found no problems
  4. i ran command dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  5. i ran sfc /scannow, apparently found corrupt files & repaired them

still no joy. decided try re-installing via iso method. didn’t work either, time giving message:

 “we couldn’t install windows 10

0x0c1900101-0x4000d

the installation failed in second boot phase error during migrate_data operation”.

i tried other recommended steps:

  1. i disconnected peripheral hardware devices
  2. i disabled sandboxie, shadowprotect, , windscribe (vpn)
  3. i did clean boot, using msconfig hide microsoft services, opened task manager , disabled startup programs, before restarting pc
  4. i disabled windows defender ( anti-virus software), , re-ran win 10 iso installation program mediacreationtool.exe

despite these precautions, still failed same error, looking @ link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/deploy/resolve-windows-10-upgrade-errors?f=255&mspperror=-2147217396 suggests due driver issue.

now not technically savvy, have tried of suggestions can find out there none have worked, , feel banging head against brick wall. please can advise? have extracted following portion c:\$windows.~bt\sources\rollback\setupacct.log file may enable shed light on issue:
