Windows 7: Hacked Through Windows Update - Microsoft Community

i have experienced hacks on computer running windows 7.

the hacker managed transfer money paypal, able stop payments blocking bank account.  i have since changed built-in admin account name , password computer.

however, there still bothers me... let hacker in because request access showed microsoft update. don't have automatic microsoft updates on computer know microsoft wants install on computer.

in instance, didn't of explanation, clicked on certificate, , looked genuinely issued microsoft. so, accepted update. next, hacker created admin account, , started making paypal transfers. shut down computer, , called bank lock account transactions until resolved.

on next day, computer showing windows security alert saying feature blocked kms server emulator (xp) publisher mdl forum, ratiborus path: c:\windows\files\bin\kmss.exe.  i cancelled request, , changed name , password router admin account.

any advice on how secure computer further appreciated.

to keep pc secured, should ensure that:

• your firewall enabled.
• your windows operating system updated.
• you have updated security programs.
• you use complex account password , change periodically.
  
• your wifi has encrypted password.
