Slow PC/Laptop - Microsoft Community

i inherited laptop dad.  it has win. 7 os.  apparently downloaded win. 10 , dogged down performance of pc.  i went , reset pc manufacturer spec.  i deal pc locking , doing dumps.  i'm not savvy know how scan disks, defrag, , use help.  i'm ready take high powered magnet hard drive!!! have hard time checking email, it's hard find job when can't resume out crash.

any help, thoughts, or remedies helpful.

one possible reason why encountered concern can due file corruptions. better isolate concern, we'd gather more information:

• are trying open word document?
• what email provider?
• did error messages when trying open email?
