Restoring Windows 10 after Ransomware incident - Microsoft Community

i have several computers.

1.  upgraded vista (preinstalled) windows 7(cd) windows 10 (free upgrade period) dell

2.  upgraded windows 7(preinstalled) windows 10 (free upgrade period) hp

3.  upgraded windows 8.1(preinstalled) windows 10 (free upgrade period).  dell , lenovo

updates applied religiously.

data backed religiously.

1.  procedure should followed able restore systems above latest update (including drivers, installed software, etc) prior infection?  

a concern windows pre-installed upgraded .... no media start , windows 10 no longer available free.  restoration should start last operating state before attack.

1.a.  should system image or system backup taken , how (after every update)?  please provide links procedural details.

1.b.  after taking complete backup or image, there procedures apply incremental backup?

1.c.  type of media should used , size?  dvd?  external hard disk?  usb drive?2. procedure follow able reinstate system after attack?  please provide links procedural details starting ground zero.  e.g. format?  boot setup?

the current devices released on market have license embedded on preinstalled system. if there changes on motherboard, digital license still applicable since linked microsoft account. next step identify account have used before. our answer desk team may out in checking on account has digital entitlement. can contact them through phone or chat.

in addition, agree suggestion provided hairyfool. can restore computer's full operational state using system image backup.  stable internet connection recommended during linking process , activation.
