Is it possible to install a pre-installed windows version elsewhere - Microsoft Community

i have laptop pre-installed windows 7 came it. laptop old , broken now, , want dispose it.

so disposing laptop mean throwing away windows too?! or windows licence can used on pc/laptop?

no; can not use on pc.

 

if laptop/computer came windows operating system preinstalled (dell, hp, acer, etc) or oem system builders license, product key came laptop/computer preinstalled oem license , non-transferable.

 

the oem license/product key (preinstalled operating systems on dell, hp, etc machines) , oem system builders license are tied first machine installed on , dies when machine dies.

 

only retail operating system license, buy , install yourself, allowed transferred machine.

and retail licenses can installed on 1 machine @ particular time.
