Windows 10 loads to a black screen with cursor after login - Microsoft Community

earlier today, pc wouldn't load windows past screen rotating dots. after resetting windows 10 home, able load login screen (showing username , 'welcome'). after, loads to a black screen cursor.

ctrl+alt+del opens screen open task manager, task manager won't open onto black desktop.

windows opens in safe mode, and sfc says can find corrupted files can't replace them. checked log , there's few dozen can't repair. dism failed , couldn't complete, , chkdsk reports no errors. installation disc can't fix issue - it's log shows it's tests completed successfully.

a lot of other forums suggest display drivers or windows trying output display monitor thinks exists doesn't. i've tried of solutions , doesn't seem issue.

if reinstalled windows same partition the corrupted installation in, there easy way move on user, if performed reset of windows (there's 1 user) - moved windows.old there would be admin/permission issues copy/pasting it, right? because seems clean install way out of one...
