Code 12 error - Microsoft Community


updated old windows xp laptop windows 7. plugged in sdard. says code 12 error. device has no enough resources. tried lot solution pl help

device manager errors such code 12 may have caused variety of factors such incorrectly configured, old, or corrupted device drivers. below list of troubleshooting steps resolve code 12 issue:

method 1: code 12 errors related corrupt or outdated device drivers, , suggest update pc device drivers.


method 2: run windows system file checker.

system file checker handy tool included in windows allows scan, , restore corruptions in windows system files.

method 3:  install available windows updates.

to check for windows updates, please follow steps below:

  1. click the start button.
  2. type "update" search box , hit enter.
  3. the windows update dialog box appear.
  4. if updates available, click the install updates button.

method 4: check hard drive corruption.

disk check can identify , automatically correct file system errors , make sure can continue load , write data hard disk. can use disk check in windows 7 not local hard drives, removable media such usb memory sticks or memory cards.

method 5: uninstall , reinstall windows operating system

you can reinstall windows operating system after uninstalling it.
