Windows 10 Update Error 0x80070003 - Microsoft Community

recently had issue laptop, , have restored windows 10 os (boot disk) backup dated october 2015, did system backup after windows 10 upgrade. (windows 10 home single language)

currently windows update failed repeatedly with error 0x80070003. 

i have tried many recommended step fix no success, include

1. remove/rename c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder

   - similar normal automatic update, run update when restarting computer, @ end, unable complete , undoing update.

2. utilize windosw10upgrade9252.exe

   - gave me error:

       "something went wrong, can contact microsoft support error. here error code 0x8007003"

3. utilize mediacreationtool.exe 

   - upgrade computer or using iso giving same result error message: 

         "sorry, we're having trouble determining if pc can run windows 10. please close setup , try again."
