Explorer.exe Application Error - Microsoft Community

hi all,

 i have problem dell laptop doing windows update , unfortunately after finishing start , joined in domain can see ctrl +alt+del log in, when log in prompts application unable start correctly explorer. exe application error , have tried following options;

• run sfc.exe/scannow no success
• doing system restore point on date success dates not successfully
• done chkdsk /r c: or d: no success

kindly assist cannot start task manager although after trying switch on safe mode

upon analyzing details have provided, possible issue caused corrupted system files and system image files. suggest run sfc again , perform these methods of troubleshooting steps: 

method 1: update drivers.   

to know how update drivers, click here.   

 

method 2: run dism tool.      

to run dism tool, follow these steps: 

1. run command prompt administrator.      

2. type following command:      

   1. dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth      

   2. dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth      

note: this might take while finish scanning. do not cancel.     

method 3: clean boot.    

to perform clean boot, click here.    

note: reset computer normal mode once done troubleshooting following section "how reset computer start after clean boot troubleshooting" from same article.
