very frustrated windows updates, common.

hp pavilion pentium - windows 7. can't update sp1. have program requires sp1.
installed sp1 version in partition (was sp1 no update requied). when want use 1 application boot sp1 partition. other apps on non sp1 partition.

hp envy 700-215xt - windows 10 home version hung @ 32%. after numerous hours , days working microsoft, purchased pro (64) edition shut off updates.
can't update version either.

long don't update pcs ok.  have careful program doesn't cause pc update when restart.

i keep windows 10 pc on 24/7 not hung , have restore backups.

is common problem microsoft windows ???

• confirm troubleshooting steps you've tried far.

furthermore, isolate issue , determine possible causes, run windows update troubleshooter , check if sorts out windows 10 pc. if issue persists, reset windows update components both of windows 7 , windows 10 pc.
