Windows / Windows 8 / Install, upgrade, & activate
i trying reset older windows 8 computer wipe of data off of before gifting relative. have created installation media on usb, , changed bios boot order prioritize booting usb. navigate settings page reset option, usb in port, , confirm want reset. machine reboots fine, past terms , conditions, problem occurs on "where want install windows?" screen. error says "windows can't installed on drive 0 partition 2" details "windows cannot installed disk. selected disk has mbr partition table. on efi systems, windows can installed on gpt disks." same detail message appears regardless of drive selected.
is necessary convert mbr disk gpt disk in order reset windows 8? if so, least intrusive way of accomplishing this?

hi amfun,
the best way proceed if you’ve backed data on drive 0, delete partitions , let windows create new partitions install. here steps beginning after terms , conditions screen:
select custom: install windows (advanced).
select drive options (advanced).
highlight each partition individually , select delete. see drive 0 1 entry , unallocated space.
select next.
installation should commence @ point.
if have questions about process, please let know!
thanks,
avery
