[SOLVED] Windows Management Service Causing Chassis fans to - Microsoft Community


so seem have form of issue windows management service can't seem find replicated on other forums.

this morning booted computer fine, had few hours watching tv show no other applications running in background. out of blue(no popups, no error messages, etc) chassis fans(all of them) kicked sounded over-max rpm. have heard computer @ max , fans sounded shake loose while screaming @ speeds i've never seen. first reaction smother computer. 

upon restart, let computer sit @ login screen see if happened again. after 5 minutes of normal, logged in. computer began normal booting processes of services while started task manager , hwmoniter. 30 seconds after login, fans spooled again max. no strain shown on cpu via task manager nor did hwmoniter show fans spinning faster(it showed them @ same rpms knew normal). cleared cmos, thinking maybe oc had done months ago might have taken toll , restarted computer. same issue.

upon launching safe mode, let computer sit 30 minutes after login. no issues arose. disabled half of services , booted normally. computer sat again 30 minutes, no issues. continued process until possibly weed out issue. continuing process, found windows management instrumentation culprit. numerous attempts went starting computer or without service enabled verify.

has heard or seen issue before? service disabled , computer runs fine, strange no updates(i don't auto update) or changes made, service began freak out. running avast , malwarebytes no issues have arisen.

specs:

 intel i7-7700k 4.2 ghz (was oc 5.1)

 asus rog maximus ix code

 corsair vengeance lpx 16gb (2x 8)

 evga supernova 750 

following in case else has issue. noticed after stopping process avast antivirus ui malfunctioning. "avast ui failed load" error. ran repair service programs menu , fixed avast. thought try hand @ booting windows management service active.

no issues far. believe culprit. seems error avast update.
