Windows update error 0x8024402 - Microsoft Community

good afternoon

i ran windows update troubleshooter fixed number of problems except 0x8024402.  used troubleshooter because (1) kept getting message "windows update can not check updates because must first restart computer previous installation can completed."  (2) have been unable delete windows 10 reminder , unable find kb3035583 update apparently governs reminder.

please advise.

i on laptop because desktop problem in middle of reformatting...

if you're in midst of formatting hdd & doing clean install of win7, needn't answer of questions - once you're & running again, chances you'll need see this page - , possibly this one - in order clean install fully-patched.

important! => if use hidden recovery partition (or set of disks came hp computer when bought it) "reinstall" win7, norton free-trialware will installed again (but invalid now). such, must (a) uninstall free-trialware, , then (b) download/run norton removal tool again & restart computer (c) before installing or attempting install updates or microsoft security essentials.
