Windows Recovery Mode: Restoring while keeping your "personal - Microsoft Community

i'm having hardware issues pc , need restore it. have option of restoring windows while still saving personal files deleting apps. i'm wanting know save , won't save. save files on desktop? non app files in drive? save chrome bookmarks?

ok, save files in library folders - documents folder, pictures folder . . . etc.

i have seen situations user files on desktop have disappeared, if move files care on desktop folder in documents folder

with regards chrome bookmarks - chrome removed part of process, bookmarks stored here (replace yourusername):

c:\users\yourloginname\appdata\local\google\chrome\user data\default

you can copy these out folder in documents folder , restore them after reset . . .
