does windows refuse in meaningful way without payment?  was purchase of operating system not enough warrant level of customer support?

has else experienced similar story below?

i need reinstall windows 10 new ssd.  my current 1 showing signs of fatigue , aging.  i have ssd use.  i went find product key , none listed.  i looked online solution , windows support page told me type slui 04 start menu , run command.  this command gave me number call , installation id.  

i called number.  the automated service asked brief line of questioning.

is windows 10 (1) or other (2) - 1

is free upgrade (1) or retail (2) - 1 (might have options reversed here)

ok, i'll ask series of numbers according set (1-9) - painstakingly enter 9 groups

i can't find this, let me connect support.

i connected guy doesn't appear understand how things working.  it's long process of me explaining command typed in , why need windows 10 product key or other option reinstall os.  we go around questions , asks me windows 7 product key.  i can't see on windows 10 machine.  i purchased copy @ point 8 years ago when desperately trying away vista.  in windows 7 when go computer properties, key shown right there never wrote down.  i don't have passwords/ids/keys written down physically.  security , all...  i tell him this.  at 1 point straight tells me doesn't understand why product not active , why don't have key.  i told him neither i, that's why i'm in need of please transfer me understand what's happening.  a little rude @ point guy not professional after first 2 questions didn't have answer liked.  he transfers me woman.  we start over.  she seems nice.  i'm explaining things, tells me can help.  we point asks product id, or rather, think told never "windows not genuine" message should have active windows 10 copy.  it upgraded windows 7 , never bothered @ status because wasn't issue, working.  i give product id, first thing says can't find it.  then tells me she'll online, whatever means.  then says it's been used before.  well yeah, when upgraded windows 7 i'm sure passed key windows 10, never put in.  i've never seen key.  she has great deal me, $40 , can new key!  i haven't followed price of windows 10, quick *edit* bing *edit*.  i can key $35 online?  how service?  one sec, how windows 10 pro, i've been thinking need anyway since several services need aren't available in home.  it's $45.  "ma'am, can pro online 5 more dollars? can not offer same thing or better 'support' me since promised free upgrade" not 1 year trial or free* (*until , see gave same product keys).  she tells me can go windows store after buying $40 new key , $99 upgrade...  how remotely response.  "i can $45, can right here while on support call" "i can $139"  

i tell don't want purchase key want installation moved new drive , don't understand how product key never shown me have been used other installation.  she starts saying she'll explain , disconnects call.  she has number, asked name , number.  she did not call me back.

i go support page , open chat.  the chat doesn't @ all, in fact after selecting topic want chat stops prompting me.  i click sad face , it's not working.  i call support line, instead of weird line connected automated service installation ids, oddly never option them , neither understood why  have installation id in front of me , not product key....  the support line automated services, best select options pertaining need , last option want pay support or free support.  obviously want free support, hit option free support.  "go microsoft.com/support, goodbye".  ?!?!!?!?!

this terrible service, 1 guy admits doesn't know what's going on , transfers me, other lady tells me need buy new product , disconnects call, automated support tells me need pay real support disconnects, chat isn't working, , account created when got windows 10 still doesn't activate because sent activate key account created , need activation key sign can activation key?!!?!?  finally today new option asked use "alias" email , circumvented whole issue.  which, way i've sent 2-3 emails , never got responses microsoft.  

has ever called in support , gotten free support?

re-install windows. when prompted product key, click "i don't have key" , "do later". no product key required, no support required.
