Windows 10 feedback - why I haven't upgraded and why I am not - Microsoft Community

in our family , business use notebooks exclusively, have note book only, have @ least 1 external monitor attached, myself have 2 external monitors.

i use software :

browser (opera, chrome, firefox)

outlook, excel, word, powerpoint 2010

autodesk autocad

autodesk inventor

visual studio

sql server management studio

azure

my computer history/experience dates lotus on 386 machines 2 (5") floppy drives.

myself , 1 other power user did not upgrade windows 10, variety of reasons. 1 of autodesk software made purposefully obsolete starting @ windows 8.  both our machines windows 7.

recently have come realization there isn't real killer reason upgrade, there whole lot of small reasons not upgrade.

yes, new interface fresh longer @ it, more have come realize ui not written me.

i don't want reminded every time defender needs run, or when completes.

that start menu back, don't want cluttered fluff (movies & tv, people, voice recorder, weather, or xbox, windows store, etc).

yes, how fast boots, computer slow molasses least first 10-20 minutes when doing whatever (sending  my usage info mothership?).  and why need repetitive reminders log in onedrive?

and these updates.... when there updates ready downloaded seems whole os in limbo , nothing seems move quick when updates installed.

then actual process of downloading , installing problematic on sort of dsl connection. updates slow pretty always, , microsoft never tells me how big these updates impossible know in advance how long computer unusable. guess microsoft engineers have meeting or kill time.

cummulative update 1607  kb4015217 started downloading @ 14:38, 50 minutes later wants restart. guess long conversation @ watercooler microsoft engineers while happening. @ 15:38 "getting windows ready" still spinning, 1 hour gone.

in attempt continue using 3d prototyping software installed vm (hyper drive) instantly killed capability of using 2 external monitors in addition notebook screen. windows 7 still humming along .....

at 15:44 "working on updates 25%" , 1 minute later machine rebooting.

at 15:47 " working on updates 70%", again.  a few minutes later @ desktop.

a total of 70 minutes has gone by. , because has booted there lag  and machine slow.

again 1 drive window ==> close

now creative update.....

so clicked on "get creator update"....

your pc running 14393 latest version 15063 ==> update @ 15:55

oh excitement! going 1 hour event, or take rest of day?

well, sure looks multi hour event because @ 16:05 5% complete.

ok, 19:50 4 hours later , looking @ "working on updates 12%"

another hour later (5 hours since clicked "update now" done!
