On screen commands not working correctly - Microsoft Community


these problems existed before installed new os. had xperia, did custom install , used windows 7 professional.  when try shut down computer using on screen buttons like:  shutdown-it restarts computer, 

restart-works, sleep works. when windows gets shutdown unexpectedly , options safe mode appear on screen, timer counts down, enter=select can't select thing. go in fix this.

1) run chkdsk follows:


open command prompt right clicking , select 'run administrator'
, @ command prompt type:  chkdsk  /f  /r    press enter key.


if prompted schedule volume checked next time system/pc restarts,
enter: y

now reboot pc.


if know manufacture of hard drive can download diagnostic software.


check health of disk drive crystaldiskinfo:

monitors disk drive (hhd , ssd) health status (smart values) , temperature. supports solid state drives (wear level count or tware value).

2) run the  sfc   /scannow    command. check , repair if necessary critical windows system files.


click on start/all programs/accessories 
right click on command prompt option , select 'run administrator'.
(or "safe mode" open command prompt)
@ command prompt enter:  sfc  /scannow

if sfc scannow unable repair or corrupted system files
following:


a) open command prompt, (start / programs / accessories)
right click on command prompt option , select: run administrator

 
b) @ command prompt enter:  dism.exe  /online  /cleanup-image  /scanhealth


press 'enter' key.


c) next enter: dism.exe  /online  /cleanup-image  /restorehealth


press 'enter' key.


d) rerun sfc  /scannow command.


@ command prompt enter:  sfc  /scannow
