Hard disk drive imminent failure message - Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

hi all,

received dreaded message, backed everything, made repair disk, attempted create mirror make things easier once installing new hard drive. 

couldnt create mirror  because of i/o error. formatted  external hd after checking make sure working properly. same problem expecting internal hd (given imminent hd failure message) , went searching google solutions.  ended doing chkdsk/r. 

it has been stuck @ 'scanning , repairing drive (c:): 12% complete' 24 hours.  the dots above message spinning it's trying repair. (this not stage 3 or 4 i've seen in numerous posts....it hasn't gotten stage 1 far can tell)

thinking of giving have no control of keyboard attempt anything.

help please.
