Will upgrade to Win 10 Professional allow me to control with updates - Microsoft Community

hi,

      have windows 10 home edition. in version of windows updates automatic , installed on system on own. creates problems work , causes network usage spikes @ home network. cannot set network metered because of other downloads , other background processes stops. need mechanism via can control when updates downloaded , installed. frankly never understand idocity of having automatic updates.

       question this, if upgrade windows 10 professional give me control present windows 7 turn off automatic updates , check updates when convenient me?

are sure windows update causing problem, each time have seen high cpu , disk usage has been internet explorer (when have multiple tabs open in edge , 1 tab in ie). although clear slance310 has seen same you.

turning of service option, although not recommend disabling service without making provision getting updates.

disabling update service prevent app updates store , manual checks ( can turn service on check) , in builds (i think creators update one) prevents definitions windows defender.

using microsoft account or local account makes no difference in case.

i did disable service on home machine have since decided let on (but don't use time).

i wrote couple of tiny batch files , used task scheduler run them, enable service in hours , check updates, disable service few hours later.

a manual check updates means running batch file rather going settings.
