Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Update Issues (March - Microsoft Community

i have 64 bit version of windows 7 , following march windows update releases, microsoft security essentials real time protection has stopped working leaving red warning icon @ bottom of screen though suggests on in settings. additionally, impossible windows update in normal mode (screen hangs) , can't seem fix problem. have seen happen in windows 7 32 bit versions doing restore earlier version deletes kb 4012215 initiates install of 6 further updates gets rid of problem - not happen in 64 bit version , reverts same problem. can advise me on best way of handling other deleting security essentials , installing other antivirus software.......thank-you.

to troubleshoot issue, recommend perform clean
boot. eliminate software conflicts may have occurred when updated windows. perform clean boot, follow steps on link.

get if steps won't work.
