Install Windows 10 and Replace C Drive - Microsoft Community


i have home built pc.  i running windows 7 professional.  for while refuses install updates.  any updates whether security updates or bug fixes , new features.

at same time c: drive has got pretty full due spouse , child not being computer savvy , saving without thinking it.

currently, have c: drive , d: drive.

i've bought new huge drive new c drive , have licence install windows 10.   windows 10 .exe install product key.

i want make current full c: drive new e: drive , make new empty drive new c: drive.  i want fresh install of windows 10 on new empty c: drive.   don't care apps might want files used on c: drive on e: drive.  what's taking space on current c: drive pictures docs powerpoints etc.   can go e: drive , stay there; don't need on current c: drive go on new empty c: drive.  i want windows 10 on new c drive.

i need procedure this.  in short, designate c: drive e: drive.  install new empty disk, make c: drive.  install windows 11 on new c: drive.

  1. disconnect old disk.
  2. connect new disk.
  3. install windows 10.
  4. connect old disk well. automatically become drive e:
