Reformatting computer to factory settings - Microsoft Community

my laptop came windows 7 available upgrade windows 8.1 , upgraded windows 10. want reset laptop factory settings. able download , install windows 10 on laptop? if yes, how can that?

you have 2 options:

1. reset laptop

start laptop, after manufacturers logo disappears , windows 10 tries boot, press , hold power button down 5 - 10 seconds perform hard shut down

do twice

on third boot attempt, windows boot windows 10 repair environment, there can access startup recovery, safe mode, command prompt . . . etc.

go troubleshoot - advanced options - reset pc, choose keep nothing - same clean installation

2. clean install windows 10

if not have windows 10 installation media click here to download media creation tool (click on download tool now), can download latest windows 10 iso, create installation media on either flash drive (min 4gb) or dvd

 

then, boot pc installation media created (change boot order in bios)

 

if had windows 10 installed , activated on pc during installation process select 'i reinstalling windows 10 on pc', , activation not issue, pc have digital entitlement stored on microsoft servers

 

otherwise have purchase windows 10 licence
