Windows Vista Boot Issue - Microsoft Community

i have dell dimension c521 windows vista home premium years. started have problem booting os. on power up, display dell bios screen, , shuts down. however, if pressing f12 while on dell bios screen, can bios utility screen. there can scan memory , hard drive no problem. can run diagnostic test, reveals no problem. upon exiting bios utility, system reboot. time, instead of shutting down right after displaying dell bios screen, prompt me system repair. there try system restore, allow system boot os. can use computer no problem several days, until shuts down again, , unable boot up. brings me original problem again. 

so seems there hardware issue diagnostic scan unable reveal, can mask temporarily. other ideas? thanks. 

if desktop pc,power-off,remove mb battery,wait 10 minutes,replace new battery,its 2032,about 5.00

once thru,start pc,press f2 bios,reset date/time & configure boot priority & add-on hardware,save , exit.

if laptop,then plug-in battery charger,keep installed...
