Unable to Update or Clean Install Windows 10 to Current Version on - Microsoft Community
i've been struggling getting latest version of windows 10 on asus g73sw laptop since around mid december 2016 when replaced hard drive. prior this, had been running windows 10 since released public no significant issues. i upgraded windows 10 windows 8.1 during free upgrade period. i not certain version of windows 10 running prior replacing hard drive believe @ least anniversary update able add extensions edge browser , have read anniversary update required ability.
after replacing hard drive attempted preform clean install latest version of windows 10 using media creation tool usb drive. ensured nothing other usb connected laptop during install. install progressed point of finishing stage , stalled out @ point microsoft logo on screen , circle of rotating dots. system remained in state 8 hours no hard drive light activity. had identical results when attempted clean install dvd media.
i tried clean install of older version of windows 10 (version 10.0 build 10240) had available on usb drive , install successful unable update current version of windows 10 similar indications described above during first clean install attempt. since have attempted multiple times clean install different versions of windows 10 usb drive , each time after clean install failed able version 10.0 build 10240 clean install.
finally last week i was successful in getting version 1511 build 10586.753 install on laptop attempts @ updating current version have been unsuccessful similar indications original clean install did error message on screen indicating" 0xc1900101-0x20017 installation failed in safe_os phase error during boot operation.
is there else can @ point latest version of windows 10 on laptop?
please provide more information cause of problem may diagnosed.
please restart computer , allow 20 minutes system run before uploading information required me investigate problem. when examining event viewer log files many, not all, problems show in period after computer has been booted.
please provide copy of system information file. access system information file select keyboard shortcut win+r, type msinfo32 and click ok . place cursor on system summary. select file, export , give file name noting located. click save. files in txt file format preferred.do not place cursor within body of report before exporting file.the system creates new system information file each time system information accessed. need allow minute or 2 file populated before exporting copy. please upload file onedrive, share , post link here. if report in language other english, please state language.
please upload onedrive , share copy of system log file from event viewer , post link here. please remove earlier copies of logs onedrive.
to access system log select keyboard shortcut win+r, type eventvwr.msc , press the enter key. list in left side of window select windows logs , system. place cursor on system, select action menu , save events as (the default evtx file type) , give file name. not provide filtered files. do not place cursor in list of reports before selecting action menu. not clear logs whilst have continuing problem.
