i using windows 8. .exe files showing "this file not have program associated performing action". control panel shows message only. searched in net , try run "regedit.exe" shows same message. opened advance command prompt , tried run regedit.exe opend. when put isshortcut in file, showed name present , cannot perform action. downloaded choose defult program fix when tried install shows "this file not have program associated performing action" message only. in control panel cannot access of troubleshooting option, it  prompts same message. how to  solve ?

to isolate issue, we'd ask following:

  • we'd request screenshot of error message getting when making changes registry , control panel. may use snipping tool sending screen capture. learn how, click here.
  • aside attempting perform troubleshooting control panel, other troubleshooting steps have tried?
