Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel - Microsoft Community


i have windows vista windows mail.  problem lies in windows mail.  when open email , click on something, message: "this file not have program associated performing action. create in association in set associations control panel."  i have looked in control panel , cannot find it. please help!

that's different problem 1 bruce helping solve. association that's missing 1 opens browser when click on link in mail message.

these instructions windows 7, think apply vista: 

 

  1. type default start search box , select default programs from results.
     
  2. select set default programs.
     
  3. in left-hand pane, select internet explorer.
     
  4. at foot of page, click set program default.
     
  5. click ok.
     
  6. select set program access , computer defaults.
     
  7. select custom and click on downward-pointing chevrons expand selection.
     
  8. under choose default web browser, select internet explorer.
     
  9. select enable access program for other browsers use.
     
  10. click ok, reboot computer. 

 

now try clicking on web link in email message. if still doesn't work, please describe in detail happens.
