Windows 7 Sort Order Problem - Microsoft Community

i have disabled windows 7's numerical sort order function through group policy editor, should getting "dumb" ascii sort.

indeed, in root project folder have several folders, , arranged so:

01

02

03

...

09

0a

0b

etc.

perfect!

but no.  1 of files in folder not sorting correctly, , can't figure out wrong.  copy , paste names listed:

0q-0101-1g01-ms

0q-0101-0501-ms

0q-0101-1601-ms

0q-0101-4401-ms

that first file supposed after 1601.  can't figure out wrong.  missing?  please help.

edit:

when files sorted name, files appear in correct order.  when files sorted type, 1 file out of order.  displays same file type in every way can check.  there end way windows deals file types can inspect , modify?

that first file supposed after 1601.  can't figure out wrong.  missing?  please help.

this happen either of these reasons:

  • you did not reboot after setting policy.
  • you made mistake when setting policy.

start hacking registry directly. work!
