Win 7 password reset disk, forgotten password and reset disk won't - Microsoft Community

yes data little dated, still have old workable equipment , bet not one.  in case has same or similar problem.

my laptop upgraded win 10 now, when purchased new several years ago loaded windows 7.  upgrade win x late 2015 or 2016 if recall correctly , win 8 surface keyboard had went on blink.  laptop when purchased created 2 users, mine admin , spouse user privileges not administrator privileges updates and  downloads etc.... came time changed password , reason not using pc , then.... not find password, not recall , couldn't find usb password key on it.  happy have created , figured find , well.  found it, not pc let me use it.  searched , searched answer problem.  found many instructions resetting pc, reinstalling windows (which had done before , did not care again).  found sorts of mixed , convoluted data meant had lot of thinking , work if followed instructions.  not pc  ask me reset password disk when entered wrong password admin login , 2 years not update items on pc , of course frustrated spouse complain getting messages updates needed not update , neither i. ... discovery of how simple turned out be..... occured while cleaning used pc spouse purchased pawn shop, somehow contracted virus or somesuch.  pc 1 purchased new , came windows 7.  amid cleanup of pc , reinstall of win 7 pc stumbled head first answer password issue on pc.  flipping simple have shot myself in leg , still try kick own butt......

in safe mode attempt login , forgot password?? got backup disk password reset key... question appear when try login 'forgotten password' when in safemode.  if answer anywhere out there during attempts find 1 during 2 years of not being able login user on pc never saw it.  , simple.  duh! smack in face of simplicity.
