The Operating System couldn't be loaded - Microsoft Community


hp elitebook 8470p 64 bit ram 8gb hdd 1 tb running windows 8.1 pro has been having freezing problems , programs not responding , closing in middle of operation. think has been infected virus although have installed various antimalware softwares eg malwarebytes, super anti-malware, emsisoft antimalware, eset nod32 antivirus, kasperky removal tool, hitman pro among others none of them seems detect problem. used adwcleaner 1 time , after had finished scanning asked reboot complete cleanup process. rebooted after login black screen appeared  . tried press ctrl+alt+del opened when pressed task manager black screen movable cursor shows again. tried boot safe mode pressing shift+ restart on login screen worked few times because times restart login screen. anyway while in safe mode tried different solutions googled such sfc/scannow command, deleting windows activation folder, uninstalling graphic card drivers, deleting file: windows.ui.immersive.dll etc none of solutions worked.

after while came across solution bootrec \fixmbr used , after reboot pressed ctrl+alt+del , when tried open task manager system opened although took around 5 minutes load programs. used few hours although freeze , @ 1 point  it froze 10 minutes shut down , when started black screen error came back.

after multiple struggles enter safe mode tried solution deleting antivirus programs. before process completed pc shutdown because had not plugged in , battery had reached 0 without knowledge since while in safe mode there no notification battery life. anyway when tried boot laptop went automatic repair after scanning said automatic repair not repair pc pressed advanced options. 

tried  startup repair failed. 

tried refresh pc said there problem refreshing pc. no changes made.

tried system restore gave me error: ( system restore did not complete successfully, computer's system files , settings not changed. 

details:
system restore failed extract original copy of directory restore point.

restore point damaged or deleted during restore.

can try system restore again , choose different restore point,if continue see error, can try advanced recovery method.)

tried safe mode through startup settings when press f4 automatic repair loop keeps on starting.   

decided disable automatic repair loop see whether solve problem did using command ( bcdedit /set {default} recoveryenabled no )

brought me blue screen error:

(the operating system couldn't loaded because critical system driver missing or contain errors.

choose 1 of options below address problem.

press esc recovery
press enter try again
press f8 startup settings)

have inserted windows 8.1 recovery disk , tried install windows after following instructions final response is: ( computer started using windows installation media. remove installation media , restart computer windows starts normally. then, insert installation media , restart upgrade. [do not select custom advanced perform upgrade. custom advanced installs new copy of windows , deletes programs , settings.]


please assist because don't want lose personal files have no problem if programs removed.

you can not a repair install upgrade @ boot.

saving files:

you can pull hard drive , put in usb hard drive enclosure > plug computer > , attempt read , copy on data way.

or, can download knoppix > make bootable disk > boot system (if hardware working) > , copy data hard drive way.
