google chrome can hear me cortana cannot. strange because 1 suggested test follows :   check see if little green bar goes , down in recording devices dialog box while speaking , does! part of windows fine cortana part not. tries going set microphone wizard when read peter dictates sentence response cannot hear me. version 1607 os build 14393.693 , mid january 2017. seems should have been resolved now.

google chrome may reason why cortana isn't working in first place. both programs use level of voice-recognition , chrome might interfering cortana's processes.

since know microphone fine, can check if cortana's voice-recognition feature turned on?

to cortana's settings, select search box on taskbar open cortana home, select gear icon.
