Build 1607 failure (after failure, after failure) - Microsoft Community

beginning last summer, laptop experienced continual repeated failures of kb2961149 , kb 2796590. apparently prevented computer updating build 1607 build 1511. no longer attempts failed kb's, continually try update build 1607, , fails every time. not problem function of computer, except each attempted (and failed) update takes many minutes shutdown , restart. issue when want shut down take laptop me. if mistakenly hit upgrade , shut down option (there security updates complete quickly), have wait many minutes before can pack computer , leave. 

i see many related issues upgrade 1607. have tried number of methods fix this, , nothing has worked. 1 of methods download executable , run it. failed, failure did not take time complete normal update.

i tempted buy windows 10 home usb (assumed 1607), , try "upgrade" entire system, not sure if allow me that, since have windows 10 home. have contemplated buying windows 10 pro usb, thought indeed true "upgrade".

anybody know foolproof method of breaking logjam? notice have security updates occurring 1511, if being stuck there no big deal microsoft 6 months after rollout of 1607. again, not care except time involved in attempted updates 1607 repeatedly fail.
