the machine new dell xps (02/23/2017) 32 gb ram, i7-6700 processor running windows pro install dell.

have checked manufacturers website determine compatibility?

check list determine if computer compatible windows 10 creators update or anniversary update or not

you should follow microsoft's advisory , upgrade when offered through windows update:

microsoft slows rollout of windows 10 creators update based on customer feedback

if must upgrade, perform following tasks:

if windows 10 upgrade assistant becomes stuck or unresponsive @ various percentages: 0%, 32%, 62%, 87%, 99%, please wait @ least 4 7 hours. if updating through windows update, when download reaches 99% disconnect internet lan (ethernet) or wi-fi proceed installation.

if setup not progress, close wizard restart computer. follow instructions upgrade manually using media creation tool or windows 10 iso file.
