so have had windows 10 6 months , want recover 8.1, laptop seemed run lot better then. backed needed , clicked factory reset (the absolute one, wont keep anything) , after 4% says "the problem while factory recovering pc. no changes made", happened 2x , have no idea how fix this. makes me hate w10 more, no troubleshooting, nothing, "there problem, sorry mate"

you can't go win 8 using restore factory settings after upgrade. restore take windows 10. can clean install of windows 8 using create media tool. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15088/windows-create-installation-media

copy personal files external media before doing clean custom install of windows 8 . backup not work. 

follow directions custom install allows delete partition windows 10 before installing win 8. sure choose same version of windows 8.1 had before upgrading.
