Microsoft Native Compression Software - Microsoft Community
respected sir/madam,
to brief me , work in research firm connected department of defense india.
one of our requirements download zip files (.gz files) internet , extract them our local machine usage.
as find, there lot of third party tools extract files of nature winzip, 7-zip, pkzip etc.. feel not supported microsoft.
as better file compression , decompression management in windows, windows has in-built compressed folder option valuable tool in itself.
but since these files (i.e. compressed files .gz extension) downloaded me have different file extensions, unable extract files them through in-built compression folder management. tried renaming these files .zip extension in vain.
hence, know whether there microsoft native file compression tools in windows can unzip files winzip, pkzip or other third party tool does.
on checking internet, find there options of performing compression , extraction using powershell these can possible if third party tools installed in system not want perform.
kindly provide me details of same (or) in case of non-availability of same how handle such problem.
