Windows update not installing updates - Microsoft Community

having issues windows update:

security update windows (kb4010250) failed install

security update adobe flash player windows 10 version 1607 (for x64-based systems) (kb4018483) failed install

cumulative update windows 10 version 1607 x64-based systems (kb4015217) failed install

update windows 10 version 1607 x64-based systems (kb4013418) failed install

kb4010250 new file other 3 have tried install multiple times list growing.

 

 i have done following; in cases several times:

 

    1. admin command prompt window.

    2. stopped bits, cryptographic, msi installer , windows update services.

                              to this, type following commands @ command prompt. press “enter” key after type each command.                          

                                             net stop wuauserv                          

                                             net stop cryptsvc                          

                                             net stop bits                          

                                             net stop msiserver

    3. renamed softwaredistribution , catroot2 folder.

                              you can typing following commands in command prompt.

                              press “enter” key after type each command.                         

                              ren c:\windows\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.old                         

                              ren c:\windows\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old

    4. restartedthe bits, cryptographic, msi installer , windows update services.

                              type following commands in command prompt this. press enter key after type each command.                       

                                             net start wuauserv                       

                                             net start cryptsvc                       

                                             net start bits                       

                                             net start msiserver

    5. type exit in command prompt close , restart computer.

i have run:

               troublshooter several times till results no issues found

               fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

               sfc /scannow , hit enter.

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth 

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

all have found issues after running several times completed out errors.

 

i have renamed or removed following directories or files several times.

c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download

i have manually tried install msi files directly ms catalog.

so far can’t install windows supplied updates. updates install correctly in past. not 4/11/17. last successful install was; kb3178683 on 4/11/17.

do have anti-virus or security programs on pc? of times these can cause issues lock systems files. kindly disable them before updating.

try create new local account admin rights , try updating account.
