transfer acc info into another - Microsoft Community


i have created account wife use. called guest account. want rename can't. if create new account can transfer information guest new account

did name new account "guest"?

what happens when try rename it?  if error message, please provide complete text.

yes, can move of data 1 account another.  you'll need "administrator" account.  is, need have @ least 3 accounts:  "administrator" account you'll use moving, old account, , new account.  after create new account, log in once create file structure , log out of account.

  1. log on user other new user created or user want copy files from.
  2. open documents folder clicking start button , clicking computer. double-click hard disk drive windows installed on (it's c: drive), double-click users, double-click folder name of account, , double-click my documents.
  3. click tools menu, , click folder options.

    if don't see tools menu, press alt.
  4. click view tab, , click show hidden files, folders, , drives.
  5. clear hide protected operating system files check box, click yes confirm, , click ok.
  6. locate c:\users\old_username folder, c drive windows installed on, , old_username name of profile want copy files from.
  7. select of files , folders in folder, except following files:
    1. ntuser.dat
    2. ntuser.dat.log
    3. ntuser.ini
  8. click edit menu, , click copy.

    if don't see edit menu, press alt.
  9. locate c:\users\new_username folder, c drive windows installed on, , new_username name of new user profile created.
  10. click edit menu, , click paste.

    if don't see edit menu, press alt.
  11. log off, , log on new user.

    if have e-mail messages in e-mail program, must import e-mail messages , addresses new user profile before delete old profile. if working properly, can delete old profile.
