Task scheduler is not starting.. - Microsoft Community

hey guys,

i wanted disk defrag on drive , noticed it's not working. says cannot run while task scheduler off. tried start task scheduler (ts) it's grey out. managed change manual , started got message : "ts started , stopped, apps stop after no other program use them" . did read solutions people put online , applied them non of them worked me. please let me know if have solution, thanks.

there several reasons why issue occurs, may caused files or components broken or missing on system. sort out concern, we'd know if you’re still encountering issue? if that’s case, suggest enable program following steps below:

1. click start, type command prompt, right-click on program , select run administrator.
2. copy , paste following command command prompt window taskschd.msc and press enter.
3. once you’re done, task scheduler open, , check if issue persists.
   

note: you may prompted administrator password , confirmation changes requires administrative rights. provide password , confirm proceed. please make sure follow steps care avoid issues.
