Windows 10 USB recovery drive does not re-install W10 operating system - Microsoft Community

a year or ago ran free ms w10 upgrade on variety of devices running w7 , w8.1 , pleased results 1 hp pavilion laptop started having issues powering down , hibernating decided use usb recovery drive laptop i'd creeated after upgrade.  usb drive works , runs, allows me select keyboard layout, troubleshoot, recover drive...  on completing either quick format or full format, w10 not installed , "select keyboard layout" screen reappears.  if power on laptop without usb drive inserted go windows 8!

can help?

i looking downloading w10 using ms download tool , write dvd , see if can install there - hope registered/activated w10 ms when ran upgrade - fingers crossed!

steve, you're absolutely correct -- download tool available on the download windows 10 page updated. , since had windows 10 on computer, digital entitlement let install again forever.
