Problems resetting computer - Microsoft Community


when try reset computer , select options delete files, finishes preparing reset, when select option continue, goes couple minutes, stops , brings me blue screen saying "something went wrong, no files have been changed" or similar

may know how have attempted reset device?

you may use installation media reset device, here's how:

  1. on working pc, go microsoft software download website.
  2. download media creation tool , run it.
  3. select create installation media pc.
  4. choose language, edition, , architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).
  5. follow steps create installation media, , select finish.
  6. connect installation media created pc, , turn on.
  7. on initial setup screen, enter language , other preferences, , select next. if you're not seeing setup screen, pc might not set boot drive. check pc manufacturer's website info on how change pc's boot order, , try again.
  8. select install now.
  9. on enter product key activate windows page, enter product key if have one. if upgraded windows 10 free or bought , activated windows 10 windows store, select skip and windows automatically activate later.
  10. on license terms page, select accept license terms (if agree them), select next.
  11. on which type of installation want? page, select custom.
  12. on where want install windows? page, select partition, select formatting option (if necessary), , follow instructions.
  13. when you've finished formatting, select next.
  14. follow rest of setup instructions finish installing windows 10.
