Windows update folder SoftwareDistribution corrupted - Microsoft Community

i facing high ram usage issue. browsed lot online. read deleting softwaredistribution folder inside c:\windows. hurriedly selected inside folder , pressed delete. files not delete said in use. however, went website looking , had told first stop windows update service before attempting recreate softwaredistributionfolder. did not in first time. decided repeat process. first went services app in windows 10. chose windows update service , tried stop got error 1053: service did not respond start or control request in timely fashion.

i decided see check updates in windows in hope recover corrupted update services. update seems stuck @ 9 % forever. afraid windows update service has been corrupted. can please me stop , start windows update service , rebuild softwaredistributionfolder folder correctly?

use following tutorial  reset windows updates , check if helps:

reset windows updates

make sure run script administrator.
