Continuing failure to perform Win 10 Pro 1511 to 1607 AU - Microsoft Community

i've been posting on internet trying find detailed procedure perform either system reset or refresh.  after conversing microsoft tech support on more 1 occasion gave trying solve problem , recommended clean re-install of win 10 pro.  problem have been experiencing 6 months trying perform au (1511 1607).  fails @ same spot regardless of method of upgrading tried (including usb alternative).  i'm giving trying normal upgrade au , prepared clean install.  need detailed procedures can eliminate many problems can process.  files need backed , method should used?  replacement os 1607 beginning?  other pitfalls might encounter?  have produced advisory list of apps not survive process, , believe can reacquire of them.  can of these recovered system image?  how can ensure no data lost?  etc., etc...

1.  device type. ie pc, laptop, tablet, surface.

2.  os type, home, pro, etc

3.  current build.  go settings, system. about.  xxxxxx.xxx

4.  happening on computer,  boot, screen, app, etc

do have 3rd party anti-virus, security, cleanup programs installed?

do have enough free space on system (c:) drive?  20+gb
