Movie plays but screen black - Microsoft Community

movie imputed, shows on frame screen, not show when playing, screen black??

the 2 main causes of black video are:

  1. the clips in incompatible format , movie maker can't decode video. able see , play photos? can see added titles? work if try different video, perhaps in .wmv format, or .mp4? if so, try converting problem clip compatible format instead.
  2. your video graphics drivers out of date. if seeing black time photos, try updating graphics driver. find out manufacturer of gpu using dxdiag , go website (intel, amd or nvidia). driver update utility , run it. verify using dxdiag have updated driver recent date , try movie maker again.
