Trying to Upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1 on Bootable USB - Windows - Microsoft Community

pc has had corrupted system files have had fix windows repair cds , on. every 6 months or happens again, , more things seem corrupted each time, don't know if have sort of rootkit virus on pc may case because every time try free space on machine (it becomes mbs free) space gets took immediately, example can free 8gb 2gb free space. question, still can't boot machine , have heard doing windows upgrade can keep files while re-installing system , boot files (therefore fixing problem good), when try boot windows 10 upgrade iso burnt onto a usb drive of mine when select upgrade tells me compatibility error , should run setup.exe in windows (but can't because won't boot), reinstall windows have programs visual studio 2013 pro got dreamspark years ago , won't able them back, why upgrade. can please me how should go upgrading windows 10 install disk itself, appreciate replies , answers!

to address concern, suggest try boot system in safe mode , run setup. boot system in safe mode (with networking), please check link.

once in safe mode, run setup.exe find out programs or devices not compatible windows 10.
