the padlock icon on browser means browsing secured website. these websites using https (hypertext transfer protocol secure), secure protocol web servers use communicate web browser. commonly used on bank sites, payment pages, log in pages, social networking sites, web mail sites, , expanded search engines , other websites in recent years. time won't see icon when not on secured website.
