Paint 3D cannot open STL files - Microsoft Community

please update paint 3d able open stl files. view 3d *can* open them fine.

when open them in view 3d, , click "paint 3d" button, gives error message:

"we couldn't open paint 3d. wait bit, try again."

i did, , keeps failing. then, manually go paint 3d, , open file there. in order that, have enter "*.*" filename, otherwise won't pop up. file types dropdown doesn't list stl files. that's reason, apparently, because paint 3d says:

"paint 3d can't read file. may invalid, or in format don't support."

so, recap:

1) file valid, because view 3d can open fine

2) why can paint 3d not open file, while view 3d can?

3) please add functionality paint 3d. it's industry standard file type 3d models.

this on windows 10.0.15063.
