windows 7 suddenly stopped recognizing my camcorder. - Microsoft Community

have purchased software transfer old camcorder analogue 8mm/hi8 tapes digital. downloaded software on trial basis , worked when connected up. have paid it, laptop, windows 7, not recognize camcorder when plug usb cable in.  i not message when plug in, not appear under 'sound' in device manage did other day.                                                                                                                                                                                                  if can me working again, step step instructions welcome, have little knowledge on computers. laptop acer aspire5733z, runs windows 7 64 bit, camcorder sony ccd-trv228e. i'm not sure if other info required @ stage.            thanks

• have tried restarting computer , try connect camcorder again?
• have tried connect device different usb port?
• have checked if computer able recognize other devices?
• did make changes computer before issue started?
