Windows 7 Home Premium - home network drive disappeared - Microsoft Community

i have windows home premium, 64 bit, on hp laptop. have goflex external drive connected home network.  when installed had no problem seeing drive on network , using pc.  the drive has disappeared , can not see on network.  when temporarily upgraded windows 10 when free, drive reappeared.  due software on pc had revert windows 7 , drive disappeared again.   have computer on home network has windows 7 professional , can see goflex drive without problem.  my hp laptop windows 7 home premium see other computer on network not see external goflex drive.

this lead believe there problem windows 7 home premium...but don't understand why worked , disappeared?  could have sp1 being installed or security update occurred?

i bought external drive , plugged in 3.0 usb on router....again, windows 7 professional saw no problem, windows home premium did not.  any appreciated!

there may compatibility issue between windows 7 sp1 , goflex external drive. if it's still available, recommend perform system restore , restore windows 7 time doesn't have sp1. follow steps below on how a system restore:

1. click start button
2. on lower right part of start menu, click control panel.
3. change view of control panel items. on upper right part of control panel windows, click category , change small icons.
   
4. click system.
5. on left side of system windows, click system protection.
6. under system protection tab, click system restore button.
7. on system restore windows, click next.
8. click date think computer can still detect goflex external drive.
9. after choosing date, click next.
10. click finish.

if date when computer can still detect goflex external drive not available, suggest call manufacturer of external hard drive. may have information compatibility between windows 7 home premium sp1 , external hard drive.

we suggest if can further isolate issue using different windows 7 home premium sp1 computer check if issue windows 7 home premium sp1 or specific computer.
