How to change the Default Font in Word 97 - Microsoft Community

i have been using word 97 many years , never had difficulty changing default font time time.

however, in recent months default font remains as times new roman 10, have change favourite tahoma 12 every time open word - works particular open document. also, notice of saved word files still open in tahoma 12, exception being few others in font had selected @ time - , never use times new roman 10, dislike.

after many abortive attempts (including reinstalling original word 97 software disk , annoying issue still remains, presume may be caused recent windows updates?

i have included annoying popups arise when attempt create different word default.

could @ microsoft please explain why annoying , unwelcome change has been introduced in recent months?

screenshots.  it looks setting correctly, normal document template file (normal.dot) not taking change.  looks permission issue.  i'd go file in file explorer , set security permissions allow permission edit file.
