Activating upgraded Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

i took advantage of windows 7/windows 10 upgrade, including activation, reverted windows 7 on laptop. after using windows 10 on desktop decide reinstate windows 10 on laptop, inserted upgrade disc (dated 29/08/15) , installed win10. after installing version of win10 installed further update version 1511  10.0.010586.916.  now it's asking me activate windows, windows 7 key doesn't work , assume digital licence has not been used on upgraded version. how recover , activation key, or scrap whole idea of using win10 on laptop.

i'm using win10 home 1703 build 15063.0332 on desktop. if instal "insider" version circumvent need key?

you should able reactivate using windows 7 product key, noted, should try upgrading latest version of windows 10, windows 10 creators update.
