Linking Email To Product Key (Doesn't say It's linked) - Microsoft Community

i'm asking friend.

my friend going upgrading pc (new motherboard , graphics card) can join me , other friends play games us. i've been searching everywhere whether he'll lose product key or not, , found out can re-activate through windows 10 linking email uses microsoft retrieve it. has added email pc link product key. when checks activation section doesn't mention being linked microsoft account on mine. i'm confused , thought us? thanks.

if made significant hardware change device such replacing motherboard, windows might no longer activated. however, if bought genuine windows 10 store , activated windows 10, activation method have digital license. method of activation in windows 10 doesn't require enter product key.
